Raise the Titanisaur

Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, Episode 41

Original Airdate: 11-19-1999

Last Time: Emboldened by recent successes in cutting costs, the producers endeavored to create an episode that was over 75% Sentai footage. They succeeded, but at what cost? At what cost?

On Terra Venture, they're still running out of fuel, and that's causing the engineering department to go up in flames for some reason. Note: Never create a ship that explodes if it runs out of fuel. The builders of Terra Venture apparently disagree with such notions of ship designing, as one of the engines blows up due to low pressure in its fuel tanks. On the bridge, Commander Stanton orders the other engines be turned down in order to prevent similar incidents, and I can't help but remind everyone that there is no friction in space, and thus no reason for engines to constantly be blasting at full power. Damon apologizes to Commander Stanton for letting the engine blow up, and I'm still not exactly sure why it did. Anyway, if Terra Venture loses one more engine, they're apparently totally screwed. Credits!

On the beach, the axe-monster, whose name is Barbarax, decides to fight the Rangers. They uses a whole lot of Sentai footage in the process. Deviot shows up to taunt them. A distant rumbling starts shaking the entire colony and Titanisaur, the monster that sometimes propel's Captain Mutiny's castle, shows up and starts wreaking havoc. Incidentally, Captain Mutiny's Castle sounds like the name of the best children's show ever. "Remember kids, if you don't share then I'll keelhaul the lot of ya! Now start singing about the letter F or else!"

The Rangers call on the Galaxy Megazord, but it's far too early in the episode to do any good. The megazords all knocked around for a bit and then are blasted into their component parts. Fortunately for the series, the Titanisaur overheats and has to retreat, but not before knocking off one of Stratoforce's arms. The Titanisaur crashes into the sea, and Captain Mutiny decides to separate the castle to allow the Titanisaur to carry less weight into battle.

Back at the Galactic Apartment, the Rangers are pondering their next move. Kai suggests focusing their firepower on the castle next time. Unfortunately for Kai, the castle is being separated from the Titanisaur as he speaks. Captain Mutiny sends out Titanisaur to fight the Rangers again.

And so, the second battle between the Titanisaur and the Galaxy Megazords begins. The Rangers realize that the castle is gone and they have no idea what to do. They try fighting with their individual zords, but that never works. Mike shows up with Torozord, but accomplishes nothing. The Rangers call on all of their zords, and momentum starts to shift their way, starting with Mike cutting off the Titanisaurs' tail. The zords all use their ultimate attacks, and Titanisaur is obliterated.

On the bridge, however, the death of Titanisaur has not solved the fuel problem, and another engine is about to explode. They're able to save the engine this time, but the underlying problem remains. Show Over!

Next Time: The end of the Lost Galaxy, by which I mean the galaxy itself, not the show.
