Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, Episode 8

Last Time: Kendrix met her doppelganger, and learned the ins and outs of Terra Venture's surprisingly robust film industry.

On Terra Venture's bridge, Commander Stanton has decided to abuse his authority as leader of the expedition, and makes Kai take his daughter roller-skating. For some reason, he'd also like Kai to tape the event so that the commander can watch it later. Commander Stanton is basically an asshole. Credits!

At Terra Venture's roller rink, yes, it has a roller rink, it quickly becomes apparent that Kai can't even roller skate that well. I got to be honest with you, it looks like it truly, truly sucks to be on Terra Venture. On the command carrier, Trakeena wants to attack the Rangers, but Scorpius is protective of his daughter and won't let. Furio shows up and claims he now knows where the Lights of Orion are: buried somewhere in Terra Venture. Scorpius decides he might as well let Furio try.

Back at the roller rink, Kai gets distracted by a rather attractive skater named Hannah. Kai tries to approach her, but still can't skate and falls to the ground, which gets her attention. Kai continues to try and flirt with her, but is hampered by his inability to rollerskate. His communicator goes off and he has to leave Commander Stanton's daughter with Hannah.

At the park, there's a new monster and the Rangers fight some Sting Wingers. They eventually make it through and Kai single-handedly drives off the monster, but not before the monster releases some sort of stakes into the ground below. Kai rushes back to the rink.

He picks up Commander Stanton's daughter and is further enraptued with Hannah. This gets to the point where Kai starts imagining Hannah in some sort of bizarre fantasy where she's skating to classical music as is wearing some sort of flowing white blouse. In his reverie, Kai imagines himself skating with Hannah, and it's all very, very weird.

Later, for reasons that will never be explained, the other Rangers are watching the video that Kai made of the little girl, and they all notice that most of the tape consists of Kai recording Hannah. Kai has also made dinner, which is blackened pancakes, either because he's distracted by Hannah or not a good cook. Kai tries to fix them by putting some ketchup on them. Apparently, being in love has caused Kai to lose his fucking mind. Commander Stanton shows up at the apartment the Rangers seem to share to pick up his daughter, and they give him the tape. Kai, having lost it, has also managed to set a fire in the kitchen.

The next day, Kendrix is trying to get Kai's mind off of Hannah, but fails. Kai goes to get a hot dog, and I learn that apparently the builders of a very expensive space colony decided, "You know what, I can't imagine human civilization without some sort of hot dog carts, if man is ever to leave his terrestrial cradle, he must take hot dogs, and the ability to sell hot dogs in parks, with him." Kai sees Hannah again, and his brain continues to deteriorate, he gets mustard all over his shirt and then sprays himself with a drinking fountain. He goes over to Hannah and does his best to flirt.

Elsewhere, Furio and the monster plant a few more stakes, and decide it's time to move onto the next phase of the plan, causing an earthquake. The Rangers, except Kai, quickly rush to fight the monster, but Furio decides to slow things down with the Sting Wingers. Back at the park, Kai is trying to get Hannah to safety, but some guy Hannah knows is trapped in a car. Kai rescues the guy, as well as Hannah's wedding dress, and then realizes that if Hannah has a wedding dress and there's another dude bringing it to her, then his chances of dating her are greatly reduced.

Kai arrives at the scene of the fight, and kills the monster within ten seconds of his arrival. But it's time for the megazord fight, which goes exactly how you'd expect. Condored! On the command carrier, Scorpius decides to execute Furio for his failures, but, as a Power Rangers villain, naturally botches it and Furio escapes. Furio runs into a cave, presumably somewhere on Terra Venture, and finds the Lights of Orion. Looks like the Rangers are in for it....

...Next episode. At the Lost Galactic Apartment, the other Rangers demand that Kai make them food. Kai is brooding in his bunk. Commander Stanton's daughter shows up with a package for Kai from Hannah. It turns out that Hannah was only going to her sister's wedding, and is still available. For some reason she's sent Kai a piece of the wedding cake. Damon moves to eat it himself and..........Show Over!
