Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, Episode 15
Original Airdate: 5-20-2000
Last Time: Ryan was laid low by his cursed cobra tattoo and the fact that he doesn't appear in any Sentai footage.
In the ziggurat o' despair, Bansheera makes it clear that Diabolico is almost out of chances to kill the Rangers before she gives his powers to Impus. Diabolico realizes that as Impus is a baby, he could probably just kill it and short-circuit that plan in its infancy. Unfortunately, he's interrupted by Jinxer. Diabolico decides to send the two remaining monsters from last episode to fight the Rangers again, despite their 100% failure rate. Credits!
Down in the aquabase, Ms. Fairweather and her team on unaccredited scientists have built another zord for the team. Unfortunately, it's meant for Ryan. The acoustics of the aquabase being what they are, Ryan overhears and now knows that he's going to have to save the Rangers, defying his father's prohibition, fifteen minutes hence. In the galley, the Rangers have some coffee and the audience gets a good look at Kelsey's surprisingly broad shoulders. I...don't know how I feel about them. The producers seem to share my confusion, and a monster attacks and breaks up the scene. Ryan wants to go to, but Captain Mitchell won't let him.
The Rangers fight the two monsters, and get blasted once again. They try and fight the monsters in hand-to-hand combat, and get even more badly hurt. The Rangers decide to split the monsters up, and this somehow leads to Dana deciding to collapse a warehouse on one of the monsters. Meanwhile, Ryan bides his time.
The Rangers can't beat the other monster, and Dana's warehouse plan ultimately fails. But it turns out that the Rangers were playing possum and kill one of the two with a point-blank blast. Diabolico, not having a ton of options, makes the monster grow. The Rangers call the Supertrain, as well they might. Diabolico decides to double down by making the other monster grow as well. Everyone realizes that the chances of the Supertrain winning are roughly zero, but Captain Mitchell decides to stay the course. Ryan decides it's go-time and starts making his move.
Back on the surface, the Supertrain is out of power and prone. Meanwhile, Ryan is launching in the new Max Solarzord, much to Captain Mitchell's chagrin. Ryan is able to save the Supertrain and then heads off into outer space to charge the zord so it can transform. Unfortunately, he had to morph to use the zord, and the cobra tattoo is still kicking his ass. The zord transforms into its megazord form and lands on the Supertrain's shoulders because the Supertrain is so fucking huge that it gives other zords piggyback rides for fun.
As per the rules of Power Rangers, the new toy always works, no exceptions, and the Max Solarzord takes no prisoners. Unfortunately for Ryan, his tattoo is acting up and he's losing consciousness, collapsing immediately after killing the last monster.
Later, Ryan is kind of dying due to the cobra tattoo, and Captain Mitchell shows up to tell Ryan how proud he is of Ryan for almost getting himself killed. Captain Mitchell may not be the best father in the world. Ms. Fairweather informs the captain that the next time Ryan's morphs may be his last....unless Captain Mitchell can sell him to another demon. I mean, it worked before. Speaking of things that worked before, Diabolico decides to resurrect the last three monsters the Rangers killed, because, well, fifth time's the charm. Show Over!
Next Time: Diabolico learns that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results!
