Power Rangers: Wild Force, Episode 9

Last Time: The Lion Zord was out of gas, so the Rangers replaced him with a Gorilla Zord. Also, Master Org remembered that he was the one that totally killed Cole's parents. In fairness, creating something like Cole is a crime that should be punishable by death.

At a railroad crossing, Toxica and Jindrax wait for a train to come. Jindrax reflects on how he wanted to be a train conductor as a child. That's...oddly endearing. They find Retinax, Master Org's old bodyguard, who has been wandering the Earth waiting for Master Org to return. Retinax decides to kill the Rangers before he goes to apply for his old job back. Master Org eavesdrops on this meeting and realizes that Retinax can probably tell that he's not the original Master Org...also, that he's really a human.

On the Animarium, the Rangers get alerted to Retinax and head off to fight him. Retinax introduces himself and the battle begins with Retinax blasting them all into the ground. Cole decides to expedite the process and go straight for the Savage Slash. It fails. Toxica and Jindrax load the dice a bit more by bringing in Freezer Org to incapcitate the Rangers. Unfortunately, Freezer Org isn't very good and gets blown up rather quickly.

Megazord battle! Well, given the timing of it, probably only the first megazord battle. The Rangers elect to use the Kongazord, which goes tragically wrong when Danny gets crushed by a giant banana. No, really, that actually happens. Elsewhere, Shayla is cradling the Soul Bird Egg, which starts hatching. The Rangers form the Kongazord Megazord, which is immediately frozen by the Freezer Org, who kills himself in order to stop the megazord. In the frozen cockpit, the Rangers realize that their zords and morphers no longer work. The villains then ambush the Rangers and take their crystals.

Just as the Rangers are about to get killed, however, a mysterious noise disables the villains, unfreezes the zords, and gets the Rangers their crystals back. Shit, I didn't know Soul Bird meant "Deus Ex Machina." This change in momentum leads the Rangers to defeat the villains almost instantly. Retinax decides to grow to giant-size to trigger another megazord fight, and accidentally buries Jindrax and Toxica under some rocks. The megazord loses yet again, and Cole whines about not giving up.

But there is yet another zord for the Rangers to pull out as the Soul Bird hatches and merges with the megazord to give it more power. That's one deus ex machina too far for Retinax. The monster gets a reprieve as the Lion Zord calls into Cole to tell him to form the other megazord configuration, which then levels Retinax.

Later, Shayla congratulates the team for their acheivements in collecting so many, many zords. Also, Retinax has survived just long enough for Master Org to find and kill him. Well, that was pointless. Show Over!
