Clash For Control, Part I

Power Rangers: Time Force, Episode 14

Original Airdate: 5-5-2001

Last Time: Eric swiped the Quantum Ranger powers!

At Ransik's International House of Villain, Ransik indulges in the hammiest exposition ever committed to videotape and explains that he's going to send a monster back in time to steal the Q-Rex, a mighty zord that Time Force sent into the Jurassic for reasons that will never be adequately explained. Maybe they hated dinosaurs.

Elsewhere, Eric is doing some training with the Silver Guardians that involves one of those padded sticks for American Gladiators. The Rangers show up and ask for the Quantum Morpher, but Eric is unmoved, and, in fact, has designs on the Q-Rex as well. Suddenly, a portal opens in the sky. Credits!

The monster of the week has opened a hole in time in order to get the Q-Rex, and Eric uses his new flying jet-motorcycle thing to fly through. Wes decides to jump on it because he can't even spare me one episode without his presence.

Wes wakes up later to find himself in a primeval jungle. Eric shows up to inform them that they're 150 million years in the past. Oh, fuck, Bradbury warned us about this sort of thing. Wes is upset with Eric for some reason, even though if not for Eric the monster would have a free shot at the Q-Rex. Anyway, they eventually run into a T-Rex, which, at the least, means that Eric was several dozen million years off in his calculations. The special effect would have been acceptable in a pre-Jurassic Park world, but that movie had been out for eight years before this episode came out....Anyway, the two Rangers run until Wes accidentally gets knocked off a cliff. Eric, being the Gallant to Wes' Goofus, manages to find a cave to hide in. Eric scopes out the cave and finds some cave paintings of the Q-Rex and a volcano, and figures out where the Q-Rex is at. Hey, who made those paintings, anyway?

Meanwhile, Wes has somehow survived falling several hundred feet and quickly finds the volcano. Back in the present, the other Rangers decide to look for Wes and Eric, but accomplish nothing. In the past, Wes falls into a giant clawprint, and then finds the Q-Rex, which looms over him. It hides in a cave as the monster of the week finally shows up to try and capture it. Wes fights him and gets his ass kicked. The monster then plants some sort of device on the Q-Rex to put it under his control.

Outside the cave, Eric arrives and holds Wes at gunpoint and they start fighting for control over the Q-Rex. This turns out to be a moot point as the monster of the week, named Commandocon, takes control of the giant zord and goes back into the future. Elsewhere, Eric is about to shoot Wes in the head with his blaster when he notices the time portal opening again, which somehow makes the volcano start to erupt. Eric uses his jet to save Wes and pursue the monster.

The Q-Rex lands in the present and starts blowing the shit out of Silver Hills. Wes and Eric arrive back in the present as well, and Eric knocks Wes off of his jet while they're a couple hundred feet in the air. If you're keeping score at home, this would be about the fourth or fifth time this episode that Wes has plummeted to the ground with no ill effects. Anyway, Eric tries to assert control over the Q-Rex, but it's a two part episode so it fails. To Be Continued!
