Quantum Secrets

Power Rangers: Time Force, Episode 20

Original Airdate: 6-16-2001

Last Time: Eric learned a lesson about not judging others by their appearances. For example, Jen looks hot, but she's basically a homicidal psychopath.

At Silver Guardians HQ, some scientists are trying to measure the data from Eric's Quantum Morpher, and everyone's confused because it appears that the technology is too advanced for the present. Wait, they don't know that it came from the future? What exactly do they think "Time Force" means?

Anyway, Nadira robs a clothing store and the Silver Guardians and Eric show up to stop her. The Cyclobots get killed and Nadria flees. The other Rangers show up and Eric baits Katie for fun. He then informs the Rangers that he intends to unlock the Quantum powers for all of the Silver Guardians, and thus help Mr. Collins achieve his dreams of world conquest. Credits!

At the clock tower, Lucas suggests explaining to Eric that they're from the future. Wes takes the contrary position, because he assumes that his father will try and exploit the Quantum Ranger technology if he learns it's from the future, as opposed to the current exploiting of the Quantum Ranger powers that he's currently doing.

At Ransik's House of Payne, Ransik unleashes a new monster that can mimic the voices of others and thus take control of the Q-Rex. Well, at least it's a slightly more focused plan than the last few episodes.

Elsewhere, Eric is taking care of some birds and a little girl shows up to ask questions about his birds and make leading statements about friendship. Bad show! You're trying to pussify Eric! And for what? Anyway, some goons show up and abduct Eric. He gets taken to a bridge, and the goons reveal themselves to be the monster and some Cyclobots. The monster forces Eric to summon the Q-Rex by threatening the little girl.

The Q-Rex shows up and the monster mimics Eric and orders the zord to attack Silver Hills. The monster also helpfully reveals to Eric that the Rangers and the technology are from the year 3000. The other Rangers show up and Eric escapes by jumping off the bridge....a poor choice. The Rangers call out the Time Shadow which starts to fight the Q-Rex.

Meanwhile, Jen goes after Eric and treats his injuries. Eric wakes up and is less-than-pleased to see Jen, who responds with her traditional bitchiness. In response, Eric reveals that he knows that they're from the future, not that he particularly cares. He also refuses to promise not to reveal that information to Mr. Collins.

Back at the fight, the Rangers suck and are about to get killed when Eric runs in and steals his morpher back. The monster, knowing that his goose is cooked, immediately goes giant-sized. Eric decides that he must face the monster alone, because he's just awesome like that. He receives a transmission from Alex in the future telling him about his battlizer and Eric activates it. Now, in the past, the Battilizers have ranged from terrible to faith-in-America-destroyingly-terrible, so this season's design is a step up. Oh, it's not very good, as it still has stupid looking boots and an extra helmet that goes on top of Eric's normal helmet, but it's at least not as clunky as previous Battlizers, and that counts for something.

And then his boots turn into rollerblades....never mind, I was wrong, it's as bad as ever. The monster decides to go after the little girl from earlier, and Eric responds by butchering him. The other Rangers ask Eric to work with him, and, well, would you want to hang with those assholes?

Later, Eric decides against revealing the future origin of the Rangers, and plays with his birds some more. He also hangs out with the little girl a bit. Wes, being the douche that he is, watches Eric from a distance on his motorcycle. Show Over!

Next Time: The second half of this season!
