Beware the Third Wise

Power Rangers Turbo, Episode 31

Original Airdate: 10-17-1997

Last Time: I made roughly 100 Blade Runner jokes.

The Rangers are at a wishing well. Ashley wishes for world peace. Hasn't she learned anything from The Simpsons? Justin has a wish so important that he's using his lucky coin, the one his dad gave to him. He wishes his dad would come back. Man, if his dad does come back, he's going to be pissed Justin threw his gift away in a wishing well. The Rangers decide to go grab so food. Suddenly, a monster shows up and steals some coins, including Justin's, from the wishing well. Wish denied, Justin, wish denied. Credits!

Back at the wishing well, Justin demands the monster put his lucky coin back in the well. The monster and Rygog mock Justin. I like where this episode is headed. Rygog wishes for some Piranhatrons to show up and pad out the episode. Rygog gets his wish. They fight for a bit, and then Blue Senturion shows up. That's one Ranger too far for the villains, and they flee. Cassie wonders why Divatox wants coins from the wishing well.

Up in the Space Base, we find out. The monster turns three coins from the well into three magical coins that can each grant a wish. Divatox wishes for the Rangers to be destroyed and the series comes to a stop. But I kid. Divatox is pissed, however, at there only being three wishing coins. The monster claims that's the best he can do, and isn't this one of those situation where you can wish for more wishes? Elgar takes one of the coins and wishes for a full head of hair. He gets it. Divatox uses her second wish for the Blue Senturion to be evil. Incidentally, the coin used is from Costa Rica, making me sure that the writers intended to confront police brutality in Central America. Also, hasn't Divatox already tried the whole "Blue Senturion is evil" thing before...twice now? It's not like it worked out great back then.

Anyway, the Blue Senturion is evil again. He displays his evilness by destroying a bicycle. Down at the Power Chamber, Dimitria explains that the Wicked Wisher, the name of today's monster, can make wishing coins. T.J. has a plan! It's to take all of the coins out of the wishing well so that Divatox can't have anymore wishes. Really, T.J.?

It turns out that he's too late to put his idiotic plan into effect because the Wicked Wisher is already at the well trying to empower some more coins, but he can't quite make it work right. T.J. attacks, eventually shooting Wicked Wisher with his gun and then asking if he "wishes to continue." Divatox sends in her newest weapon. The Blue Senturion shows up, and T.J. is glad to see him. The Blue Senturion responds by almost running T.J. down on his motorcycle. The Blue Senturion shoots T.J. a few times, and T.J. can't believe that the Blue Senturion would turn evil....again. T.J. is very confused, despite the Wicked Wisher explaining the Divatox had wished for the Blue Senturion to be evil. T.J. ends up shooting a gun that somehow ties the Blue Senturion up and then runs away. Ol' Blue escapes and pursues.

In space, Wicked Wisher has brought Divatox some coins...but they don't grant wishes, they are only going for being exchanged for goods and services. Divatox is about to use her last wish to destroy the Power Rangers when Elgar accidently bumps into her and sends the coin hurtled from her space balcony down to Earth. It happens to be Justin's lucky coin to boot. She throws Elgar after it.

Back on Earth, Bulk and Skull are now plumbers. Hey, at least they're trying new things. By literal cosmic accident, they get fired, but they do manage to obtain the last wishing coin. In the Power Chamber, Justin is still moping about his dad not being there. Carlos and Justin have a rap session about parental abandonment. T.J. muses that if Divatox has used one wish, and has three wishes total, then she has.....two wishes left! The Rangers get alerted to a disturbance in the park, where Wicked Wished and Blue Senturion are taking everyone's wallets. They're looking for Justin's lucky coin. The Rangers morph and head out.

At the park, the Blue Senturion asks to fight the Rangers personally. The Rangers are wary of hurting their robot pal. The Blue Senturion is not as concerned, and shoots them with his gun. T.J. tries reasoning with him. It doesn't work and he beats them all up. T.J. tries to reason with him again. Blue shows off a new attack that allows him to shoot all of the Rangers with one shot. The Rangers get serious. The Wicked Wisher shows up and clobbers them. This, however, displeases the Blue Senturion, but he gets over after the Wicked Wisher throws some explosive coins at the Rangers. T.J. calls for the Turbine Laser. The Wicked Wisher goes down. What time is it? Torpedo time! Blue Senturion gets recalled to the Space Base. The Wicked Wisher is big, so is the Rescue Megazord, available at all quality retailers. The Wicked Wisher puts up a good fight, but it's not happening. Artillery Power is called for, and the Wicked Wisher goes to the undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveller returns.

Divatox stills wants that third coin. Porto introduces a new monster named Wild Weeder to do just that. The monster immediately asks for "vittles." I have reservations about the efficacy of this monster. The Rangers also head out to search for the coin. At the juice bar, Bulk and Skull use the coin to play pinball. To Be Continued! Wait, that's the cliffhanger? Are am supposed to be wondering whether or not Bulk will beat the high score? I demand a better cliffhanger!

Next Time: Bulk wins a free game, but loses it all after a poorly timed tilt!
