Clash of the Megazords

Power Rangers Turbo, Episode 29

Original Airdate: 09-26-1997

Last Time: Cassie blundered into a trap set by General Havoc. Then the rest of the Rangers blundered into another trap set by General Havoc. Then the Rangers beat him up with their new, and affordable, Rescue Megazord. However, they couldn't get the Phantom Ranger's power ruby back, so now he's dying....or is he?

At the Power Chamber, the Rangers are looking for the Space Base. They fail. Dimitria reminds that if Divatox figures out how to use the power ruby, they'll be boned. Elsewhere, T.J. and Cassie go into the Phantom Ranger's underground access tunnels. They manage to find the Phantom Ranger's ship. Also, the Phantom Ranger's slumped over body. He's unresponsive. More New Credits!

Up in space, Porto is getting the Turbo Megazord ready. Elgar points out that the new Rescue Megazord blew up the Metallisaurus, which, itself defeated the Turbo Megazord. Therefore, by the transitive propery, this plan isn't going to work. Divatox figures that she can give it more power by jamming the power ruby into the Turbo Megazord.

The Phantom Rangers isn't doing too well. Dimitria informs the Rangers that only the power ruby can save him now. T.J. says that they have to get to the Space Base. Carlos says that it's impossible, as he usually does. T.J. has a plan! He plans to drag her Space Base to Earth with a giant magnet. Oh, T.J. Apparently, they have to wait for Divatox to drop her shields first, though. They morph and begin work on T.J.'s plan.

In space, Porto and Rygog install the ruby into a battery pack that they put onto the Turbo Megazord. Back on Earth, the Rangers continue to prepare their magnet beam. The Space Base shield are down! Unfortunately, it turns out that that's because Divatox is about to launch the Turbo Megazord at the Power Rangers. The Rangers turn on the magnet beam and it begins pulling the Space Base towards Earth. Divatox sends down the Metal Mangler to distract the Rangers...unfortunately, the beam is magnetic and Metal Mangler is made of metal....so it doesn't quite work out. She sends down a non-metal based monster instead. The monster shows up with a bunch of Piranhatrons. The Rangers fight them off, but one brave Piranhatron, against all odds and with the courage of a lion, heroically makes it past the Rangers and shuts down the magnet beam. It's the greatest moment in Piranhatron history.

It doesn't last, as Cassie knocks him to the ground and turns the magnet beam back on. But then the monster gets through and busts up the magnet beam beyond repair. Divatox finally launches the Megazord. The Rangers have to abandon the magnet beam and deal with the Turbo Megazord. T.J. is surprised to see the Turbo Megazord, and notices that there's something different about it, namely the battery pack, also, the evil. They call the Rescue Megazord. ....And the promised clash of the Megazords begins. The monster controlling the Phantom Megazord taunts the Rangers that the Turbo Megazord is now powered by the power ruby. Loose words sink Zords, monster-whose-name I forgot. The two megazords blow the crap out of each other. In the Power Chamber, Alpha 6 reminds the Rangers not to blow up the power ruby, because that would be bad. She starts searching for the exact location of the power ruby.

Up in space, Divatox demands action! The Turbo Megazord's batteries need to recharge. The two zord wait there, motionless. This...isn't much of a clash. Alpha locates the ruby. It's in the battery pack. The Turbo Megazord busts out the chest guns and its sword. But suddenly, T.J. has a plan! Carlos would like to know exactly what that plan is. T.J. explains that he's going to use Lightning Cruiser to get the ruby back. I think that his plan might be missing a few steps. Carlos claims that T.J. is either the "the bravest guy I know, or the craziest." Hey, he could also just be the dumbest. The Turbo Megazord uses the 'spin-out' and the Rescue Megazord goes down. T.J. is speeding towards the battle in Lightning Cruiser while the Turbo Megazord is about to finish off its replacement. Just then, T.J. manages to somehow get into the cockpit of the Turbo Megazord and starts fighting the monster, starting a running battle throughout the heretofore unseen corridors inside the giant robot. He eventually makes it to the top of the battery pack and finds the ruby, but the monster interrupts him. They duel on top of the battery pack.

T.J. loses his sword and it looks grim, so he just shoots the monster with his blaster instead. That doesn't seem very sporting. He knocks the monster off the battery pack and takes the ruby. T.J. finishes off the monster by shooting at the giant battery pack and causing it to fall on the monster. Now, reading this over, you might think, "Wait, wasn't he standing on the battery pack?" Indeed he was, but you see....he...let's say he teleported. Divatox decides she might as well fire the torpedoes. The Rescue Megazord blows the giant monster to bits.

Back at the Power Chamber, Cassie puts the power ruby back into the Phantom Ranger's chest He eventually wakes up, and the Rangers celebrate. Unfortunately, Cassie's daydreams of what to name half-Asian, half-cyborg children are cut short when the Phantom Ranger has to leave, for he must go whoever he is needed, and with that he leaves, and I am grateful. Show Over!
