Grunchor on the Loose

Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, Episode 37

Original Airdate: 11-15-1999

Last Time: Commander Stanton couldn't see the harm in trusting a guy named Captain Mutiny, and managed to let loose a monster on Terra Venture. Oh, and Kendrix is still dead.

In footage from last episode, the Rangers are still too late to stop the Grunchor monster from escaping. The Rangers explain to Commader Stanton that Captain Mutiny intends to enslave the entire population of Terra Venture. Commander Stanton regrets trusting the cap'n and earthquakes start rocking the colony. Credits!

On Terra Venture, the army is evacuating sections of the colony, and the Rangers manage to catch up to the monster in a tunnel, but are unable to damage it, and Grunchor escapes into the ground. Meanwhile, Deviot has found new employment from Captain Mutiny, and offers to supply Grunchor with a strength serum to speed things up. Captain Mutiny agrees.

Later, Deviot has the strength serum all ready to go when the Rangers show up. Deviot manages to lose his ability to track Grunchor, and gets captured by the Rangers in process. Leo wants to interrogate for information, but Maya would rather just finish him off now. Deviot crumbles and explains that only fire can kill Grunchor, and then escapes.

Another guy from Mutiny's crew shows up and starts looking for Grunchor, but is intercepted by all of the Rangers except Leo. They fight until they realize that Grunchor is nearby. The fight then continues and the Rangers get pasted.

Elsewhere, Leo and Mike find Grunchor and call everyone into the Mountain Dome. The monster from before, who's armed principally with a giant axe makes some menacing comments and then lets Grunchor do his work. Mike suggests that the Rangers all combine energy, which apparently involves them joining hands so that Leo can shoot fire out of his glove. There's an explosion, and it's momentarily unclear whether the Rangers toasted Grunchor. Turns out they didn't and they get blasted by the monster. Mike and the Rangers call in the zords. Grunchor eats part of a mountain, and the Rangers realize that eating rocks gives the monster more power.

On Cap'n Mutiny's castle, he decides to join the fight himself. Back on Terra Venture, the Rangers are losing, so Leo decides to dump more of his Ranger power into the Megazord to give it a boost. The other Rangers claim that it's too dangerous because otherwise there wouldn't be enough dramatic tension. The effort fails, however, and so the Rangers call for Stratoforce and Centaurus. It still isn't enough, and Captain Mutiny's castle merges with Grunchor to make him even more powerful. The Rangers get beat up even more. Leo remembers that they still have that Condor Missile thing and gives it a go, only for Grunchor to reflect it back at the Galaxy Megazord.

Mike decides to attack and gets his megazord blown apart in the process, but is able to detach the castle from the rest of Grunchor. The Rangers all combine their power for one last shot and start shooting fire out of the Galaxy Megazord's hands which finally proves to be enough to kill Grunchor.

Back at Mutiny's slave camp, he needs more slaves to dig for treasure. That doesn't sound like a productive operation. On Terra Venture, Kai reports that they've lost track of Mutiny's planet, which is bad...I think. Show Over!

Next Time: Clip Show!
